Avalon Chrystie Place Receives Economic Development Award From Big Apple Brownfield

The NYC Partnership of Brownfield Practitioners together with The Museum of the City of New York presented the first annual Big Apple Brownfield Awards in April 2009. The NYC Brownfield Partnership is a voluntary association of organizations involved in brownfields in New York City that is dedicated to providing benefits to NYC communities.

SLCE Architects, in collaboration with Arquitectonica, was executive and residential architect on Avalon Chrystie Place, which received the Economic Development Award. The entire development parcel—which includes Avalon Bowery Place I & II  on a multi-city block site—was awarded to Avalon Bay Communities by NYC Housing Preservation and Development as part of a major revitalization to this portion of the Lower East Side.
