Randolph Houses Receives Two Preservation Awards
May 1, 2017
Randolph Houses, an affordable housing rehabilitation project that combined state and federal historic preservation tax credits with low-income housing tax credits and other city financing, received two awards for preservation: the 2017 Excellence in Historic Preservation Award from the Preservation League of New York State and the Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award from the New York Landmarks Conservancy.
The rehabilitation of the Randolph Houses maintains the 19th-century New York streetscape while introducing modern standards of living. Phase I of the project was completed in 2016; phase II is scheduled for completion in 2018, for a total of 355,000 square feet. The project serves as a model for the preservation and adaptive reuse of historic buildings for affordable housing and for creative solutions for improving public housing.
