The Laureate
This 18-story, 300,000-square-foot luxury condominium building comprising 75 apartments, neighborhood retail, and a car rental agency is located in the heart of Manhattan’s Upper West Side. The Laureate’s design is a response to the scarcity of Beaux-Arts edifices, which once populated this part of town but increasingly gave way to the many nondescript postwar exercises of the 1960s and 1970s. After the developer shared a vision of revisiting this aesthetic, SLCE seized on the opportunity to design a limestone exterior rich in detail, decorative railings, Juliet balconies, and 10-foot-high ceilings.
Inside the Laureate speaks to the upper end of the Manhattan residential market with grandly proportioned great rooms, oversized kitchens and pantries, and high-end specifications throughout. Comprising one- to six-bedroom units, and amenity spaces which include a music room, children’s playroom, private dining room, and exercise room opening onto a private landscaped yard, the Laureate fills an essential niche in this family-oriented neighborhood.
