Echelon Chelsea

Echelon Chelsea is located in the Ladies’ Mile historic district and subject to the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission’s strict design review and approval process. SLCE’s design illustrates the firm’s growing acceptance within the design community and among preservationists and community groups for superior design. The through-block site allows for different design solutions for each street frontage. The major building component, which fronts West 21st Street, is organized in a tripartite composition, both horizontally in a symmetrical bookended fashion and vertically in a base, shaft, and crown configuration, which was the accepted design convention of the fin-de-siècle era.
