VIΛ57 Wins AIA 2017 Housing Awards For Multifamily Housing

VIΛ 57 West, designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, has won the American Institute of Architects (AIA)’s 2017 Best Housing Award for Multifamily Housing. The Housing Awards emphasize good housing as a necessity of life, a sanctuary for the human spirit, and a valuable national resource.

VIΛ 57, a hybrid between the European perimeter block and a traditional Manhattan high-rise, is located on West 57th Street between 11th and 12th Avenues. The building has a unique design allowing the courtyard to have open views toward the Hudson River, bringing low western sun deep into the space. SLCE worked on this iconic project as the architect of record.
