The Eugene
The Eugene is the first residential development to rise within the newly created Manhattan West large-scale development located in the Hudson Yards district of Manhattan.
Located on West 31st Street, The Eugene is a 62-story, 730-foot-tall luxury glass tower containing over 800,000 square feet. The façade was designed by renowned architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), with components that include an aluminum and glass curtain wall assembly, custom horizontal metal accent panels, and a bronze horizontal screen wall that defines the residential entrances and sets the tone for the lush residential lobby interiors.
The building contains 844 homes for rent, ranging from 500-square-foot studio units to 1,200-square-foot three-bedroom units, with a portion designated for inclusionary housing. The resident-only amenities expected for this level of luxury are provided in over 55,000 square feet of lifestyle and recreational space. These include resident lounges and libraries, a rooftop lounge with stunning Manhattan views, and a full-size gymnasium and fitness center with a 25-foot-tall rock-climbing wall. The sophisticated interiors combine forward-thinking design sensibility with traditional New York appeal, and were detailed by interiors firm RW Studio.
The tower superstructure is poured-in-place concrete with structural steel and concrete on metal deck at the podium levels. Façade components include an aluminum and glass curtain-wall assembly, and metal panel screen walls at selected portions of the podium and bulkhead.
