King Gardens
King Gardens is a new-construction low-income senior housing apartment building developed in Brooklyn’s Brownsville neighborhood.
At six stories and 52,000 square feet, the building includes 65 rental units and one superintendent’s unit. All rental units serve low-income elderly families or elderly persons and developmentally disabled adults with incomes at or below 50 percent of average median income of New York City. Rent for all units is subsidized by project-based Section 8 vouchers provided by New York State Homes and Community Renewal, and New York City Housing, Preservation and Development.
The building includes a large community room with kitchen, a laundry room for residents, supportive services office space, a library/computer room, resident activity rooms, and a landscaped rear yard. The building is designed to achieve Energy Star certification and incorporates extensive high-performance and energy-efficient components.
