Located in the Yorkville neighborhood of the Upper East Side and a stone’s throw from the East River and Carl Schurz Park, Azure’s 34 stories stand among an increasing number of similarly scaled towers along First Avenue.
Built as a condop (a coop with condominium rules, built on leased property) many of its original 128 apartment units were combined by the developer after initial rollout to fill the increasing need for larger, four-bedroom apartments in this maturing neighborhood, with no more than four units per floor.
The building’s limestone-colored, split-faced brick piers and floor-to-ceiling window wall complement this recently revitalized neighborhood. The building’s 7,000 square feet of amenities include a rooftop club and landscaped outdoor deck, game room, lounge and event space, fitness center, and private dining facility with adjoining catering kitchen.
An important component of this development, which enabled the project to move forward, was the integration of a public-school structure located at the building’s base.
