Hines Partners with Welltower to Build Upper East Side Senior Facility

Sunrise, a senior living facility planned for East 56th Street and designed by SLCE, will be developed by Welltower Inc., Hines, and a confidential major institutional investor.

According to Welltower CEO Tom DeRosa, “When Sunrise at East 56th Street, or ‘The Welltower’ as the building is also known, opens in two years, it will be the most modern and technologically advanced residential senior care building in the world.”

“This building is organized vertically unlike most typical senior living communities. Inspired by classic Park Avenue apartment houses, its design and layout reflects New York City apartment living,” said Saky Yakas, Partner, SLCE Architects, LLP. “We expect Manhattan’s seniors will be very comfortable transitioning into this community.”
