One57
In collaboration with Christian de Portzamparc Architects, at 72 stories and 850,000 square feet, One57 comprises 135 residential condominium units and a 210-room Park Hyatt. Apart from Metropolitan Tower, which was designed by SLCE and completed in 1986, the 57th Street corridor of Manhattan remained dormant in significant residential development for over 20 years. By 2010, the development climate was ripe for new, tall structures, with price tags for residential units clearing the $10,000 per square foot threshold. One57 was the first to market in 2013 along this broad thoroughfare, now branded “Billionaires’ Row,” and was the first of many to redefine the skyline as viewed from Central Park. SLCE provided its extensive residential planning and technical expertise to this complex project in the role of executive architect.
